Is your sponsor group looking for new tools to help in creating an employment strategy for the newcomers you sponsor? Identifying appropriate, relevant employment, and finding that dream job is one of the most challenging settlement tasks sponsors have as we engage and empower newcomers in preparing to sustain their families following a 12-month sponsorship. PRSN has organized a workshop to add more skills to your tool kit.

Join us on February 22, 2025, at 10:00 am, when we will offer a two-hour workshop that addresses literacy-job related challenges, community consultation, and job-readiness as well as explore barriers and opportunities for employment.

Presenters include Dawit Demoz, Jumpstart Refugee Talent community relations program manager; Dora Rabinovich, YMCA employment and referral specialist along with a conversation with a newcomer to Canada who will provide a perspective on the barriers she has faced in her employment search and some ideas around addressing them.

And, you can stay online in breakouts for 30 minutes after the workshop to meet other sponsors to share your best practice on how to assist newcomers find their dream job.

The event flyer will be out soon with the information on how to register. Watch for it in your inbox, or find it on our website, refugeesponsornet.ca. For more information, contact info@refugeesponsornet.ca
