Saturday, September 21, 2024, two-hour workshop, 10 am – 12 noon Addressing Education Challenges
Sponsors have asked for more information on dealing with specific education issues such as navigating the Ontario school system when newcomer children have special education needs; how to support adult newcomers with little or no formal education or limited literacy skills; and how to help newcomers in getting their high school diplomas or transitioning to post- secondary studies.
Wednesday, October 23, 2024, one-hour lunch & learn, 12 noon – 1 pm Resolving Conflict: Open Communication
A process to resolve conflict is critical to effective settlement. This lunch & learn will focus on the importance of communicating clearly, learning to review options, and exploring how to create a win/win situation.
Saturday, November 9, 2024, a two-hour workshop, 10 am – 12 noon Government Support for Newcomers
Sponsors are always on the look-out for what government support there is for any settlement. This training will explore what is available federally, provincially and municipally, barriers that might exist, and how to access social assistance, when necessary, as a sponsorship ends. Learn how to access settlement agencies for the information you need.
