PRSN Committees: the Backbone of the Network

Barbara Sheffield

Barbara Sheffield

Committee participation is the backbone of the Network. Committee members identify the work that needs to be done and you, as sponsors, have deemed important. You can help shape communication, build relationships, determine partnerships, suggest research that needs to be done, create training programs and use your strategic planning skills as a committee member. We always need more participation; more hands make lighter work.  Let me introduce you to two of our committees in this issue and we will add another two in the next issue. Get in touch with our committee chairs to explore where you can help.

Marketing Communications
Chair, Kathleen Magladry, kmagladry@sympatico.ca

This is an incubator space where ideas are born for growing the Network, to position it as a “go-to” resource for sponsors around post-arrival issues. It aims to raise visibility and build relationships. It is responsible for the Network website and the organizational social media strategy, along with bringing you CONNECTIONS. If this work interests you – if you like to write, research issues, develop new ideas, there is a home for you here. Get in touch with Kathleen.

Skills Development
Co Chairs, Gail Brown, 4gbrown@rogers.com, & Carol Smiley, csmiley72@gmail.com

Gail and Carol provide the leadership to this important committee that brings us training to improve our settlement knowledge and skills. They ensure that the Network offers four workshops annually on topics determined by you. The goal is to address what you want and need to gain best practice in your work. You tell us the issues you are dealing with and our experienced team members get to work and find the resource people to address the issues. If you love developing event content to reach outcome objectives, talk to Gail or Carol, you will always be welcome.
